A day in the office

In this video I like it because becoming a midwife is part of my passion. I want to finish nursing and all but after nursing I do want to go into a specific field. When I started looking around I noticed that I love kids and I want to help soon becoming mothers. I could not only deliver their baby but I could also talk to them and make sure they have a stress free pregnancy and birth. The medical name for a midwife is an Obstetrician (OB/GYN).

Midwife 101

In this video a lady name Dr. Ferguson is a midwife. In this tube she talks about how she got into being a midwife. She talks about the training and what kinds of training they need. We need two years of training in all medical areas. Then she also talks about the difference between a midwife and an M.D (medical doctor). She tells us that giving a natural birth is more of a midwife thing and the difference is the whole philosophy and meaning of a women giving birth. I like this clip because she mostly talks about the occupation rather than talking about things that weren’t even asked in the question.

"AACN; Amid Calls for More Highly Educated Nurses, New AACN Data Show Impressive Growth in Doctoral Nursing Programs. " MD Week 26 Mar. 2010: Health Module, ProQuest. Web. 8 Apr. 2010.
In this article I decided this was one of the top reasons why becoming a nurse is not always a guaranteed job. As I was reading through this I notice that even though there is not a guaranteed job other people are looking to become doctors instead of a regular nurse. As a result to this about 20% of people who were strongly interested in nursing are now opening up their minds and getting into a higher education going for their Doctoral degree or going for other degrees such as: nursing scientists, faculty, primary care providers, and specialists. This to me is a very opening for me as I am interested in nursing and I do plan on continuing with my education and becoming a doctor one of these days.

Leaders. " Journal of Nursing Education 49.3 (2010): 168-171. Education Module, ProQuest. Web. 8 Apr. 2010

I like this article because it kind of tells us future nurses what to do in their job. To me it’s kind of like a bible for nurses, it tells of how some of the greatest nurses today became great. In the article it gave somewhat helpful hints on which schools to go to and how to act during a crisis.
In the article it also helps nurses find a summer program, in the program it teaches nurses how to step up and take leadership for what they’re doing. I like this article and it was fun to read.
Lewis. L. “Oregon Takes the Lead in Addressing the Nursing Shortage” The American Journal of Nursing 110.3 (2010): 51. Research Library Core, ProQuest. Web. 5 Apr. 2010
In this article Oregon and about 10 other States want to go help the nursing world. Due to the shortage of nurses in some states including Oregon, The Center to Champion Nursing in America (CCNA) wants to redesign the nursing world. By redesigning they mean they want to recruit men and other ethnic minorities to consider nursing as a career. By doing this Oregon has made their curriculum a lot easier in the colleges and the Oregon Health and Care Universities. This to me is a great article to use in my paper, Because I wonder by the time I’m done with school will there be any more nursing jobs left. I’m sure I’m probably not the only one with this concern also.

I want to go into nursing but I really want to be a midwife. I like working with little kids and to be honest I have enough patience with little children. Since I was a little girl I always wanted to be a nurse but as I got older I really did not know what kind of nurse I wanted to be. In high school I decided to become a midwife. I like this occupation because I get to spend a lot of time with little kids and on the plus side help them through their troubles.

What is This??

Professional Organization:
http://www.technicalschool.org/city/tampa-nursing-schools
I choose this blog because I think it would be important to see where they offer nursing programs. That way you won’t waste your time in a school that doesn’t have your profession. In this blog they offer so many schools and even if you can’t afford it they have scholarship links that can help you with school. I probably won’t use this site for my paper because I won’t need to look up medical schools until I want to get my masters. That way it will be easier when I’m looking for schools.
Wikipedia:
http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Obstetrics
Obstetrics is the profession I want to go into. In Wikipedia they tell me the basics and what it stands for. At this website I can use it as a reference because in certain areas of explaining the background of an obstetrician I can look back to this and resentence a few lines. Plus Wikipedia is known for having their facts correct. Even though if someone were to edit this page, and try to be funny with the information the website it will reset automatically.

Online Article:

This article I am planning on using in my essay because it has different links to other web pages. Also in the article if I have questions or responses all I have to do is type up in the subject box and it can take me to another link where my answer lies. The only problem that I have with this website is that when I go to another link I’m going to have to add to my citing page. Also in the article I can keep updated in the whole nursing world. See what jobs open up or talk to another clinical student like me.

Here there are a lot of people who know what to do in the field. They talk about how hard and how easy the job is. Some even talk about how they got to where there at and who inspired them to per sue becoming an obstetrician. I like this website and I think I might use it in my essay. I like how some of these women were willing to do this job after going through a tough time. Like this one lady wanted to go into this field after she lost her first child from birth. That has got to be pretty hard to go into after experiencing something like that.
